Life- an evil jocular

'Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and those who strive and fight in the Cause of Allah.' (4.95)

Among the pile I came across a book labeled ‘Jannat key musafir..’ (Travelers of paradise). Thinking of it as a general Islamic literature I picked it and began to read. It was a book dedicated to young martyrs in Pakistan. They were members of Jamaat-e-islami and active members of Dawah work. I had started to read from somewhere in the middle of the book and by the time I finished the chapter, I realized what this book had stirred in me. This book is not based on politics,as to ridcule or criticize the opposition political parties of Pakistan but to enhance the passion of Islam among everyone. There are 29 young martyrs mentioned in this book separately along with the picture of their death. An interview is held with the members of the family to whom the martyr was part of. They gave their biography and how they achieved Shahadat (martyrdom). All of them had one desire in common. They had a fanatic penchant to achieve Shahadat. These were young men. PIOUS young men. One of them was just 16 years of age!. They were diligent in their submission to Allah subhanahu wa’taala.

After reading just a part of this book, it has left me to ponder upon my youth. The Satan has surrounded us completely in the form of this world. The profligate world is nothing but a tactic of Satan to astray us from the Right Path. We are so much pre-occupied with our work in this world, be it our jobs, our families, our homes, fun and vice versa that we have completely forgotten The Judgement Day.

Allah reminds us of this dreadful day in the Qur’an several times. Among them is Surah Al-Mutaffifin (Those Who Deal in Fraud), Ayat 4-6,Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning),On a Great Day, The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamîn (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?

There should be left no doubt that every man be him rich or poor, is worried about something or the other. He is saturnine with worries. What he does not care or worry about is Akhirah. We decorate our homes with best of furniture, showcases and God knows what but we do not decorate our Graves with our Ibadaah and work of Islam. Is not Qabar the primary step to Akhirah? Why don’t we think about our Eternal home. Deep, dark and isolated grave?

Lets think and consider where are we heading to. Death is waiting for us, but are we waiting for Malik-ul-Mout? Where do we stand personally..?

Al-Infitaar (The Cleaving), Ayat 1-5, When the heaven is cleft asunder.And when the stars have fallen and scattered;And when the seas are burst forth;And when the graves are turned upside down (and they bring out their contents)(Then) a person will know what he has sent forward and (what he has) left behind (of good or bad deeds).
